2007 Meme

This meme's been popping up all over the place.  This will be my first year filling it out (and possibly my last, if my memory is to be relied upon to get this thing done next  year).

1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
I took a vacation with my mother, I worked at a bookstore and I saw two shows in Las Vegas.   Not all at the same time.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
If I made any resolutions, I've forgotten them and I don't plan to make any next year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not yet, as far as I know - one girl's about to pop, though.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, thank goodness.

5. What countries did you visit?
I never left the USA this year.  Next year, I hope I'll have a big list  of countries I'll have been to.

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
A better wardrobe and financial stability.  Those might be mutually exclusive.

7. What dates from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I can't remember specific dates but I know that I had a great birthday, and a wonderful time when I was in San Francisco.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I don't think I had any major achievements this year.  My life sort of feels like it's been on hold for a while, and I'm just now starting it up again.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not having a backup job when I needed one.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Just a cold here and there.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
I haven't bought anything spectacular for myself this year.  I have gotten some very nice gifts, though.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
A friend of mine made a big change in his life and while he was afraid to do it, he went for it anyway.  I was really proud of him.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Meh.  I'm not gonna start naming names.  Nobody's perfect.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Fixing cars and scooters.  And San Francisco.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Seeing Gogol Bordello in concert, going to Club 33, San Francisco, and the Oscars.

16. What song will always remind you of 2007?
Gogol Bordello's Wanderlust King.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder?
happier
b) thinner or fatter?
fatter
c) richer or poorer?
much much poorer

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
I wish I'd made more money, and that I'd traveled more.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
I dunno.  I wish I hadn't been fighting as much.  I'd have like to have been less angry and hurt.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With my family - my brothers, cousins, uncles, aunts, and other assorted relatives will all be there and I think it's going to be so comforting to be surrounded by my lunatic family.  The only ones missing will be my grandparents, I think.

21. Did you fall in love in 2007?
No

22. How many one-night stands?
None

23. What was your favourite TV program?
Pushing Daisies and Battlestar Galactica

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No, I don't hate anyone.  I have an Arch-nemesis, of course, but I don't hate her.  Mostly, she's just annoying but everyone needs an Arch-nemesis.  And she's been my Arch-nemesis for years.

25. What was the best book you read?
I don't think anything I've read this year has really blown me away or been added to my list of all time favorites.  I was introduced to Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series and I've been enjoying that,  but it isn't really life-changing literature.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I just got into Amy Winehouse.

27. What did you want and get?
My own life back

28. What did you want and not get?
I think if I didn't get it, I forgot I wanted it, so I'm doing pretty good in that department.

29. What was your favourite film of this year?
I really enjoyed The Darjeeling Limited, Hot Fuzz,  and Ratatouille this year.  Lars and the Real Girl, Superbad, and Knocked up were fun, too.

30. What did you do on your birthday?
I had a good birthday week.  Greg took me to a nice dinner and Disneyland, and my parent's took me to a Victorian Grand Ball.

31.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Money

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
Feminine and quirky

33. What kept you sane?
My friends

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Crispin Glover, Christian Bale, Simon Pegg, and Adrien Brody

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Darfur and nearly all environmental issues.

36. Who did you miss?
I miss my brother and my grandparents the most - they're the only ones who live far away from me.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
I met a bunch of great people at the bookstore.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007:
I learned that I can't take care of everyone and that I have to let things go.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year
It's a kind of magic.
